Sri Lanka is famous for its gorgeous beaches. Bentota is one of the best beach resorts to spend several days, lazing on a beautiful beach after all the exciting outdoor activities in the hilly inland areas during your travel, such as Cultural Triangle and Kandy. Because of the gold-yellow colored sands, the beach is called “Golden-sand Beach.” The deep blue waves of the Indian Ocean catch the yellow sands in and become white waves.
Big waves and quiet beach in February
In February, the waves were relatively high and the beach was less crowded. People were relaxing, talking and walking around the foreshore. Our hotel, Saman Villas, is located between two beautiful beaches, and we enjoyed peaceful walks every morning and evening. The beaches are blocked by palms, and there are cafes and hostels at short intervals.

Getting there: It’s located 65 km south of the capital, Colombo, and 56 km north of Galle. It may be reached from the both towns within 1-2 hours.
